THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT ME !

I am a cross breed

I am shy and need time to settle

Indy′s Story

My name is Indy, and my story starts with heartbreak. I remember the day so clearly—my family put on my leash, and we got into the car. I was so excited, my tail wagging like crazy. We drove for a while until the car stopped on a dirt road surrounded by fields and farms.

When we got out, I spotted a big gate and heard dogs barking. I thought, *Wow, we’re at a dog park! This is going to be fun!* They let me off the leash, and I pranced around happily while they stood by the gate , they were trying to leave me outside of the shelter. They must have seen the cameras on the gate and panicked.

They quickly put me back in the car, and we drove away. I didn’t understand what was happening. Soon, they stopped again, not far from where we had been before. They opened the door, and I jumped out, ready for the next adventure. I sniffed around, exploring the field next to the road, but when I looked up… they were gone. They had driven away, leaving me there all alone.

I stood there, frozen and confused, not knowing what to do. Minutes felt like hours, and then, out of nowhere, a car screeched to a halt. A kind lady jumped out, panicked, and scooped me off the road just as a huge truck sped past, missing us by inches. Her arms were shaking, but they felt safe. That’s when I knew my life had changed forever.

Character & Temperament

I’m still very sad and confused by what’s happened to me. Most days, I spend my time lying in my bed here at the shelter. I don’t feel like doing much... everything I knew suddenly changed. I went from living in a home with my people to being surrounded by strangers. It’s hard, and I don’t know who to trust anymore.

But the kind humans here refuse to give up on me. They show me patience and kindness every single day, and even though it’s hard, I’m starting to give them a chance. I’m trying to open up, to let myself feel safe again, and to be more receptive to the love they’re offering. I know it’ll take time, but I believe that one day I’ll shine through this sadness. I just need someone who’s willing to wait and believe in me.

Ideal Home for Indy

The ideal home for me would be one where I can take things slow and feel safe as I heal from the past. I need a calm, patient environment with people who understand that I’ve been through a lot. A home where I can build trust over time, at my own pace, would be perfect. I’d love a family who’s willing to offer gentle encouragement, understanding, and lots of love.

A quiet home with no sudden movements or loud noises would help me feel secure. I might need some time to adjust, but once I do, I know I’ll be a loyal and loving companion. If you’re someone who has patience, can give me space, and understands the importance of trust, I’d love to meet you and show you the dog I truly am.
